چکیده
Aging populations in developed countries will increase the demand for implantable materials to support tissue regeneration. Whey Protein Isolate (WPI), derived from dairy industry by-products, can be processed into hydrogels with following desirable properties applications engineering: (i) ability adhesion and growth of cells; (ii) ease sterilization by autoclaving (iii) incorporation poorly water-soluble drugs antimicrobial activity, such as phloroglucinol (PG), fundamental phenolic subunit marine polyphenols. In this study, WPI were enriched PG at concentrations between 0 20% w/v. solubilization is far higher than water. Enrichment did not adversely affect mechanical properties, endowed activity against a range bacteria which occur healthcare-associated infections (HAI). WPI-PG supported of, collagen production human dental pulp stem cells - lesser extent osteosarcoma-derived MG-63 cells. summary, enrichment may promising strategy prevent microbial contamination while still promoting cell attachment growth.
